Portfolio > University of Virginia Magazine

The University of Virginia needed a website for their flagship publication, Virginia Magazine. They wanted an online spot for friends and alumni of the University to engage and interact with their alma mater, as well as a design that would highlight the informative articles and allow for a variety of content—from videos to audio clips to photo galleries.

They also needed a way to manage this site: a robust, fully-customized content management system that would give the magazine’s editors the ability to add and edit their content easily.

Refresh worked with the editors to establish a solid information architecture and navigational structure. Our designers created a layout that is fresh and adaptable, focusing on a strong use of typography, but never overshadowing the magazine’s beautiful photography. We designed a content management solution that fit the University’s budget constraints but allowed the editors to easily upload new content, moderate user interaction, and keep track of website statistics.

Brittany Averette is the driving force behind the University of Virginia Magazine’s Web site. Her creativity, design skills and technical ability have made uvamagazine.org an exceptionally engaging site that’s an increasingly popular online destination for U.Va. alumni and students.Robert Viccellio, Vice President of Communications

User-contributed photo galleries, a video library, and a monthly e-newsletter round out the suite of online offerings that Refresh developed for the magazine.
